Attention Select & LIB Clients: Year-end W-2 and 1099 information

We hope that all of you have begun preparations for the submission of W-2 and 1099 information to your employees, vendors, and federal, state and local governments. For 2013, there are changes to the W-2 electronic file format and the 1099-MISC and 1099-INT printed forms.

For Select clients, there are two “Year-End” patches that must be installed before you will be able to process your 2013 W-2s and 1099-Rs in Payroll and 1099s in Accounts Payable. These patches will be available in the Downloads section on eSupport by December 9th. The Payroll patch must be loaded before you process your first checks in 2014. For instructions on downloading patches, go to the Downloads/Documentation section of eSupport.

Remember, Select Accounts Payable users need to run the Year End process after all payments for 2013 have been made, and no later than January 15 th , 2014.

There will be a Year-End release for LIB clients as well. Once the software modifications are ready, LIB clients will be notified and the software will be updated directly onto client systems.

Many states require businesses to report their W-2 and 1099 information on magnetic tape, diskette or electronically. If you are reporting with our software for the first time, or the required information for your state has changed for this tax year, please send a copy of your state's requirements to us immediately. Continuous-Feed Forms

To obtain pre-printed tax forms compatible with your Harris Software you can contact the Harris Forms Division by phone at 1-800-259-8222, by fax at 1-903-535-9015, or by e-mail at sales@harrisforms.com. Please let the salesperson know you need the forms for the Select software. All orders should be placed as soon as possible to avoid delays.

We are supporting the same forms as last year. Note: We do not support the 2-Wide W-2 layout.

Plain Paper Laser Printing

We continue to offer plain paper laser printing of tax forms for those customers who submit electronically, in affiliation with NowDocs. To use this option, you must have a compatible laser printer hooked up as a system printer (it cannot be just a slave printer attached to someone's PC). The forms produced are the file copies and those given to the vendor or employee.

The benefits of using NowDocs are:

  • You cannot run out of forms
  • Can run extra copies on demand
  • Future year's revisions for revision charge only
  • No ordering/storage of special forms
  • No software modifications
