City of Billings, MT Goes Live on Innoprise Financial Software

BROOMFIELD, CO - October 25, 2011: < Harris Enterprise Resource Planning (Harris ERP)today announced that the City of Billings, MT is live on the Innoprise Financial Suite of software. Financials marks the second Innoprise Software Suite that is live at the City. In March 2011, Billings went live on Code Enforcement, the last Community Development module to be implemented at Billings. In both cases, the City replaced their 22 year old legacy system that was reaching its end of life. The City provides a variety of municipal services to approximately 100,000 citizens.

Key business drivers for Billings to replace their green screen financial software were retrieving data was extremely challenging and their software was outdated. The Innoprise Suite of Software was appealing to the City because of the ease of searching, tailoring user views, exporting and printing of financial information. Information within the Innoprise Financial Suite can be accessed easily with the Selector tool. The Selector combines the functionality typically found in third-party report writers with sophisticated search tools for users to have unprecedented access to their data. Users can tailor their Selector screen and the design is such that navigating the system using the Selector is very natural.

Another business driver for Billings was a streamlined Accounts Payable process. The Accounts Payable application uses workflow to streamline payment processing and offers several user-controlled options to tailor the system. After a user enters and then proposes an Invoice or Purchase Order it goes into the Workflow Engine. The engine performs tests on the Invoice/Purchase Order to determine how it needs to be routed for approval. "The process is completely automated and has allowed our departments to be virtually paperless on the Accounts Payable side," said Patrick Weber, Finance Director for the City. "We anticipate improving departmental efficiency by utilizing the automated workflow features and process driven functionality that is built into all of the Innoprise applications," added Weber.
